The Short Decision Rule
Choose Nightscout if:
- you already run Nightscout
- you want to keep your current path
- you want B-Sense to act as the dedicated display layer on top of what already works
Choose B-Sense Cloud if:
- you want the hosted path
- you do not want to manage your own Nightscout instance for the first setup
- you want the managed B-Sense Cloud option
One Important Rule
For first setup:
- choose one path only
Do not try to mix:
- Nightscout host with B-Sense Cloud key
- B-Sense Cloud host with Nightscout token
- multiple setup paths during the same first-run attempt
Option A: Keep Nightscout
This is usually the clearest choice if Nightscout already works for you.
What this path means:
- keep your current upstream data flow
- use B-Sense as the display layer
- prepare your Nightscout URL and upload-capable credential
Best fit:
- existing Nightscout users
- more technical users
- users who want to keep their current Nightscout route for the first setup

Option B: Choose B-Sense Cloud
This is the better fit if you want the hosted path from the start.
What this path means:
- use the B-Sense-hosted access route
- prepare the account/access details shown for your B-Sense path
- use the matching B-Sense host and access value
Best fit:
- users who do not want to manage Nightscout for the first setup
- users who want the managed hosted option

Common Mistake
The most common mistake is not choosing the path clearly enough before setup.
That leads to:
- mixed host and credential values
- avoidable first-run failure
- repeated troubleshooting loops
If you feel unsure, stop and decide the path first.
That is faster than editing values repeatedly.
What This Page Does Not Claim
This page does not claim:
- that B-Sense Cloud is better for every user
- that Nightscout is harder in every case
- that either path removes the need to verify the rest of your setup
- that compatibility is universal outside the documented baseline
